Two leading clinical trial organisations in New Zealand, Pharmaceutical Solutions Limited and the University of Auckland’s Clinical Trials Research Unit (CTRU), have formed a partnership aimed at promoting the country as a global centre of excellence for clinical research.
Pharmaceutical Solutions bills itself as New Zealand’s largest privately owned clinical research organisation, while the CTRU’s director, Associate Professor Chris Bullen, said the unit had “an international reputation for conducting high-quality multicentre trials underpinned by our innovative data management services”.
The partnership comes on the back of a parliamentary select committee last year into the value of clinical trials conducted in New Zealand, the two organisations noted. It will make the CTRU’s capabilities more visible to prospective clients while enabling both organisations to offer an expanded range of trial services, Bullen pointed out.
“Through our clients we are seeing a greater demand for world-class data management services, and through our relationship with CTRU we are now delivering web-based data management solutions which align with US Food and Drug Administration regulations and requirements in New Zealand and Australia,” commented Michael Vukcevic, chief executive officer of Pharmaceutical Solutions.
